Wind Market Spain: Nordex Receives Another Major Order - Spanish Government Backs Massive Expansion of Wind Energy by 2030
Hamburg, Germany - Following the major order from Sweden for a capacity of 553 MW, wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has now announced a further major order for a total capacity of 106 MW. The customer is the independent power producer (IPP) Capital Energy from Spain.
"This agreement with Nordex Group represents a new milestone in the fulfillment of our business plan, with which we continue to promote a green and fair energy transition. It also represents a new step in our firm commitment to the generation of wealth and employment in the regions where we operate and to the supply chain and technology of EU countries and, specifically", said Juan José Sánchez, CEO of Capital Energy:
Nordex shares are down slightly by 0.5 percent to a price of EUR 9.860 in early afternoon trading today (14:15, 04/01/2023, Stuttgart Stock Exchange).
The wind energy market in Spain has developed continuously in recent years. At the end of 2022, the installed capacity was just under 30,000 MW; the data for 2023 is not yet available. The Spanish government is pursuing ambitious goals with regard to the further expansion of wind energy. According to the current Spanish energy and climate plan, wind energy capacity in Spain is to be massively expanded to a capacity of 62,000 MW (62 GW) by 2030.
