After Plant Optimization: Plug Power Resumes Production of Liquid Hydrogen in Tennessee

Latham, USA - Plug Power has restarted its hydrogen plant in Charleston, Tennessee, with a production capacity of up to 10 tons per day (TPD) of liquid hydrogen. Plug Power had made design improvements to increase the overall efficiency of the plant.

Plug Power plans to supply liquid hydrogen to customers throughout North America through the Tennessee facility, with a high density concentrated in the Midwest and along the East Coast. This expands Plug's liquid hydrogen offering, which is currently supplied to customers for use in material handling, fuel cell electric vehicle fleets and stationary power applications.

"With the Tennessee plant coming back online, we have taken another step towards building a vertically integrated hydrogen network in North America,” said Andy Marsh, Plug Power CEO. “In addition, we expect to have our joint venture plant in Louisiana to come online in the third quarter of 2024, adding another 15 TPD of liquid hydrogen capacity to the market," said Plug Power CEO Andy Marsh.

Plug Power began producing liquid green hydrogen at its Georgia facility on January 23, 2024. At 15 TPD, this is the largest liquid green hydrogen plant in the US market and the largest PEM electrolyzer plant operating in the US. With the Georgia and Tennessee plants, Plug Power now has a production capacity of approximately 25 tons of liquid hydrogen per day. The company is also working intensively on the construction of plants in New York and Texas as well as in Europe, where plants are being planned in Finland and Belgium.

In today's trading, Plug Power's share price has risen by 1.8 percent to EUR 4.262.
