AI in Wind Energy Operations Management: Drehpunkt And Turbit Cooperate on Software Integration

Rostock, Germany - Drehpunkt GmbH, which is specialised in software for technical operations management, and Turbit Systems GmbH, which is active in the field of monitoring wind turbines on the basis of artificial intelligence (AI), have launched a cooperation.

As a first move, Drehpunkt and Turbit Systems are are pursuing a deep data integration within the framework of the cooperation, which should simplify the use of both products for joint customers. According to their own statements, both companies are among the market leaders in their fields.

Drehpunkt has been developing Rotorsoft, an OEM-independent operations management software for international markets, since the company was founded 19 years ago, that is already used globally to monitor renewable energy plants with a capacity of more than 50,000 megawatts (MW).

For its AI approach, Turbit utilizes historical wind turbine SCADA data to learn the expected behavior of wind turbines per site using neural networks. The AI company permanently simulates the normal behaviour and compares it with actual sensor data. As soon as deviations are detected, the Turbit system also sends automatic alerts and in-depth analysis automatically into rotorsoft. In addition to main components, the AI process can also be used to monitor complex site conditions such as day and night power curves, according to Turbit Systems. The AI heart of Turbit Systems are neural networks, which are continuously improved through semi-automatic feedback loops and are able to predict the root causes of abnormal machinery behavior.

"Our customers want to integrate Turbit alarms into their operations management software. So they can harness the added value from Turbit alarms efficiently. We are therefore very excited about the cooperation with DrehPunkt and the deep software integration of Turbit and rotorsoft", says Christian Fontius, who, along with Michael Tegtmeier, is one oft he Managing Directors of Turbit Systems, about the cooperation.

Predictive maintenance and smart monitoring are rapidly gaining importance in the global wind sector. "With the deeper integration of rotorsoft and Turbit, we offer operators and managers a compelling solution and consolidate our leading position in analytics automation, monitoring, and optimization of renewable energy plants," adds Tino Korth, one of the two managing directors of Drehpunkt.
