Pilot Project: Eon Tests Dynamic Pricing For Electric Vehicle Charging in Denmark

Essen, Germany - As one of the first providers on the European market, the energy group Eon is offering dynamic pricing for public charging of electric vehicles in Denmark's capital Copenhagen for a limited time.

Starting today (Aug. 8, 2023), drivers at Eon charging stations in Copenhagen can receive discounts of up to 50 percent off the regular price.

With dynamic pricing, prices for services such as charging e-vehicles are not fixed. Instead, they fluctuate depending on factors such as time of day, available grid capacity or the share of renewable energy.

Customers can check the Eon Drive Infrastructure website for available discounts, which are displayed on a map in both urban and residential areas. On the website, customers can also view the pricing schedule and start charging.

"Dynamic pricing has the potential to revolutionize the way we price and sell energy at public charging infrastructure. It offers a win-win situation for everyone: our customers, the environment and for us as a provider. As one of the first major charging providers in Europe to test this approach, we are excited to see the reactions to this pilot project," says Dr. Lioudmila Simon, Head of Mobility Innovation at Eon Group Innovation, hoping to gain valuable insights from the Copenhagen pilot.
