Brazilian Wind Market: Nordex Receives Follow-Up Order For Brazilian Wind Farm Cajuína 3
Hamburg, Germany - The wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has received a further major order from Brazil. The Brazilian energy holding company Auren Energia has commissioned the Nordex Group to supply and install 19 N163/5.X turbines with a total capacity of 112 MW.
The Nordex wind turbines are destined for the Cajuína 3 wind farm, which is part of the Cajuína wind farm in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in the municipality of Lajes. The 19 wind turbines will be delivered in early 2026 with a nominal capacity of 5.9 MW each.
In recent years, the Nordex Group has already supplied and installed a total of 120 N163/5.X turbines with a total capacity of 684 MW for the Cajuína wind farm complex for the Cajuína 1 and Cajuína 2 expansion stages.
The expansion of wind energy in Brazil has developed dynamically in recent years. According to the Brazilian Wind Energy Association, more than 1,100 wind farms with a total capacity of 33.7 GW (33,700 MW) are currently in operation.
In addition to the development of onshore wind energy, five Brazilian offshore wind farms with a total capacity of up to 6,000 MW (6 GW) are also planned to date.
