Andalusia Embraces Solar Power: Total Energies Launches 263 MW Solar Park Complex
Seville, Spain / Paris, France – The French energy company Total Energies has officially inaugurated its largest solar project in Europe near Seville. The new solar park complex consists of five facilities with a total capacity of 263 MW.
A large portion of the generated energy will be marketed through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), with the remainder fed into the wholesale market. According to Total Energies, the newly inaugurated solar park complex will help avoid approximately 245,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
Across all five solar parks, around 400,000 bifacial solar modules with tracking systems have been installed. The project was classified as strategically important by the Andalusian regional government. A total of 14 companies were involved in the implementation, including many from the region. Approximately 800 direct and indirect jobs were created.
“We warmly thank the Spanish authorities at both the regional and national levels for supporting this solar project that is contributing to Spain's ambition of 80% of renewables in its mix by 2030,” said Olivier Jouny, Senior Vice President Renewables at Total Energies.
With this project, Total Energies is pursuing its strategy to build an integrated power business based on renewable and flexible energy sources (combined cycle gas turbines, storage). At the end of March 2025, the company had renewable generation capacities totaling 28,000 MW (28 GW) and plans to expand to 35,000 MW (35 GW) by the end of 2025. By 2030, net electricity production from renewable and flexible energy sources is expected to exceed 100 billion kWh (100 TWh).
