PNE Wind Farm to Supply Power to 22,800 Households: PNE and Encavis Strengthen Wind Energy Expansion in the Sauerland
Cuxhaven (Germany) – PNE AG has sold the under-construction “Sundern-Allendorf” wind farm in the Sauerland region to Hamburg-based Encavis AG. The wind farm comprises five turbines with a total capacity of 34 MW. Once operational in the first half of 2026, it will supply wind power to approximately 22,800 households.
Mario Schirru, CEO of Encavis, emphasized: “With the acquisition of the ‘Sundern-Allendorf’ wind farm, we are continuing our established growth strategy and systematically strengthening our wind energy portfolio. In the last ten months alone, we have been able to expand it within Germany by around 160 MW – a significant step towards a balanced ratio of wind and solar energy.” Wind farms currently account for about 45 percent of Encavis’ total generation capacity in Germany. Schirru praised the high project quality and welcomed the continuation of the partnership with PNE.
The permit to build and operate the five wind turbines, each with 6.8 MW capacity, was granted to PNE by the Hochsauerland district in June 2023. Construction began in August 2024. Encavis is one of Europe’s leading renewable energy producers, operating a diversified portfolio with more than 3,800 MW (3.8 GW) of installed capacity.
