Energiequelle Launches Repowering Project: Nordex Turbines Replace Legacy Systems in Wind Farm Upgrade
Zossen, district of Kallinchen (Germany) - In Minden, North Rhine-Westphalia, Energiequelle GmbH has launched a repowering project for one of its wind farms. Three state-of-the-art wind turbines of the Nordex N149 type are set to replace five older units by October 2026.
Project manager Jan Schrobsdorff calls the project a “strategic move toward securing the future.” He explains, “with fewer turbines, we generate significantly more power, ensuring maximum land-use efficiency.” Once operational, the upgraded wind farm will supply sustainably produced electricity to around 9,500 four-person households. The new turbines, with a rotor diameter of 149 meters, are expected to generate approximately 40 million kWh (40,000 MWh) of electricity annually.
The old turbines - two NEG Micon NM 60/1000 units and three Enercon E-40s - had significantly lower output. Approval for the repowering was granted in December 2024 under the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG). Planning and coordination took place in close cooperation with the City of Minden and the relevant authorities.
Energiequelle has been active in the renewable energy sector since 1997 and is considered one of the established players in the industry. In addition to wind farms, the company also develops photovoltaic systems, substations, and energy storage solutions. With more than 600 employees and offices in six countries, Energiequelle has completed over 850 installations to date.
