Vertical Photovoltaics: Next2Sun and Over Easy Solar Launch Strategic Partnership for Greater Market Penetration in Europe

Dillingen / Oslo – German specialist Next2Sun and Norwegian company Over Easy Solar are combining their expertise in the field of vertical photovoltaics. The strategic partnership aims to accelerate market penetration across Europe while offering customers a broader portfolio of vertical PV solutions — ranging from rooftop to ground-mounted applications.

Vertical PV systems are considered a promising complement to conventional solar energy: they generate electricity generate electricity outside peak midday production periods, reduce grid load during midday hours, and enable multifunctional land use. Through the new partnership, Next2Sun and Over Easy Solar intend to strategically combine and market their respective strengths in ground-mounted and rooftop applications.

Complementary Technologies Meet a Shared Sales Strategy

Next2Sun, based in Dillingen, and the Norwegian company Over Easy Solar AS, founded in 2021, have agreed on a strategic partnership. Both companies plan to jointly manage sales, marketing, and the exchange of contacts and project inquiries (lead sharing) in order to establish vertical photovoltaics more quickly in selected European markets.

The partnership combines two complementary technological approaches: Next2Sun specializes in bifacial, vertically installed PV systems for ground-mounted, agri-PV, and infrastructure applications and is regarded as the inventor of this technology. Since its founding in 2015, the company has implemented more than 60 MWp of projects domestically and internationally and employs over 100 people at locations in Germany, Austria, Poland, and Japan.

Over Easy Solar, on the other hand, has developed a prefabricated vertical PV system specifically for flat and green roofs, with low weight and easy installation as key features. The company has already completed more than 60 installations across over 15 countries in Europe and North America.

Sascha Krause Tünker, CFO of Next2Sun, explained the reasoning behind the collaboration: “Vertical PV is becoming increasingly important as a solution for efficient land use, grid-friendly generation profiles, and new application areas. Through our collaboration with Over Easy Solar, we are strengthening our market presence and offering customers a broader portfolio of proven vertical PV solutions.”

Trygve Mongstad, founder and CEO of Over Easy Solar, added: “This partnership enables us to jointly address different segments of the vertical PV market and further establish the technology as a viable and scalable solution.”

Counter-Cyclical Electricity Generation as an Advantage for Grid Operators and On-Site Consumers

Vertical PV systems are attracting increasing attention from project developers and grid operators for several reasons. Due to the vertical orientation of bifacial modules, these systems achieve a more balanced generation profile with higher yields during morning and evening hours — making them better aligned with typical consumption patterns than standard south-facing installations. This reduces grid stress at midday and increases the share of self-consumption without requiring complex storage systems.

Another advantage is multifunctionality: vertical PV systems can be integrated into agricultural operations, infrastructure corridors, fence structures, as well as flat and green rooftop applications — often without interfering with existing land use. Reduced susceptibility to snow loads and dirt accumulation further enhances their suitability for a wide range of climate zones.

For EPCs, installers, building owners, farmers, and project developers, the partnership creates an expanded range of solutions: from vertical rooftop systems and fence-mounted installations to commercial ground-mounted and agri-PV projects.
