Wind Energy in an Industrial Estate: Nordex Receives Order from The Netherlands

Hamburg, Germany - Nordex has received an order for the delivery of turbines of the 3- and 4-MW class in the Netherlands with a total of 35 megawatts (MW).

The customer is Windpark Greenport Venlo B.V., which has ordered five N133/4.8 turbines of the Delta4000 series with tower hub heights of 135 meters and three N117/3675 turbines with tower hub heights of 134 meters for the "Greenport Venlo" wind farm. The order also includes a 25-year service contract for the turbines. Nordex will deliver the eight turbines at the beginning of 2022.

A special feature of the wind farm is its location. This is located in the Greenport Venlo industrial estate northwest of the city of Venlo. This region includes industrial estates with mostly agro-food and horticultural enterprises. Nordex will install the turbines railway line between Venlo and Eindhoven in an agricultural area within the industrial estate. Once completed and commissioned, the wind farm is expected to provide clean electricity for around 30,000 households.

Windpark Greenport Venlo B.V. is a joint venture between Dutch sustainable energy provider Greenchoice, project developer Windunie and ABN Amro Energy Transition Fund.

Greenport Venlo Wind Farm is working with the Samenstroom energy cooperative to allow residents of Venlo and other municipalities in Limburg-Noord to participate in the wind farm. A fund is also being set up to provide around half a million euros for the villages and residential areas in the immediate vicinity. This will enable residents to develop initiatives to improve the local environment. Through the cooperation between Windpark Greenport Venlo and the Samenstroom energy cooperative, the proceeds of the wind farm will largely benefit the regional communities.

In a generally weak stock market environment, Nordex stock declined by 4.5 percent to a price of EUR 24.02 in the last trading week. In today's trading, Nordex has lost 4.5 percent to date and is currently trading at EUR 22.94 (May 3, 2021, 4:40 p.m., Stuttgart Stock Exchange). Over the year as a whole, Nordex is thus up 3 percent.
