Wind Market South America: Nordex Secures Major Order From Chile And Order From Brazil
Hamburg, Germany - Last week RENIXX listed wind turbine manufacturer Nordex reported further orders for a total capacity of 245 megawatts (MW) received from South America in December 2021, including a major order from Chile. In addition, Nordex landed another order in Finland and received an order from Spain.
Norwegian energy group Statkraft has awarded Nordex a contract for the delivery and installation of 14 N163/5.X turbines for the Morro do Cruzeiro wind farm in Brazil. The order also includes a service contract for three years including a possible extension option. The site of the 80 MW project is located in the municipality of Brotas de Macaúbas in a mountainous area in the Brazilian state of Bahia. Installation of the turbines, which will be delivered in an operating mode of 5.7 MW, is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2023. Nordex will manufacture the nacelles, hubs, rotor blades and the 120 meter high concrete towers in the country.
In addition to the major order for 380 MW for the Pjelax-Böle-Kristinestad Norr wind farm cluster reported earlier this month, Nordex has secured a further order for a total capacity of 72 MW in Finland for the Tolpanvaara wind farm. The project will be built in northern Ostrobothnia, in the municipality of Pudasjärvi, approx. 700 km north of Helsinki, at the end of 2021. The client is the new customer Enefit Green. In addition, Nordex has secured a 43 MW order from RWE Renewables Iberia in Spain.
Nordex stock gained 2.9 percent last week to close at EUR 14.11 (Jan. 14, 2022, closing price, Stuttgart Stock Exchange).
