Market Ramp-up: ATCO And BOC Become Preferred Partners in Australian Mega Hydrogen Project

Calgary, Canada - The government of the Australian state of South Australia has awarded a consortium of ATCO Australia and BOC, a Linde Group company, the contract as preferred partner for a mega hydrogen project.

This involves the planning of the world's largest hydrogen production plant to date and a hydrogen power station near Whyalla in South Australia.

The 250 MW hydrogen electrolysis system and 200 MW hydrogen power generation plant are part of South Australia's Hydrogen Jobs Plan Project, which also includes a hydrogen storage facility. To date, South Australia has committed A$593 million in government funding and will own the planned facilities.

The consortium of ATCO Australia and BOC has entered into an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) agreement with the Australian state government. Under the contract, the consortium aims to undertake detailed project and engineering design, procurement of major equipment, final contract design and cost estimation. The project is scheduled to start operations in 2026.
