Nordex Gains Ground in Latvian Wind Market: Company Secures Contract for Latvia’s Largest Wind Farm

Hamburg, Germany – The Nordex Group is expanding its presence in the Baltic region: For what will be Latvia’s largest wind farm to date, the Hamburg-based turbine manufacturer is supplying 21 N163/6.X turbines with a total capacity of 147 MW.

The "Pienava" project is being developed in the municipality of Tukums, southwest of Riga, and marks another milestone in the development of wind energy in Latvia.

The wind farm was developed by Swedish project developer Eolus. The buyer is Latvenergo, the state-owned Latvian energy company. According to current plans, the park is scheduled to go into operation in March 2027. In addition to delivery and installation, Nordex will also be responsible for servicing the turbines for 15 years under a long-term service agreement.

The Delta4000 series turbines will be installed starting in summer 2026 in a cold climate version on 169-meter-high tubular steel towers.

It was only in 2024 that the Nordex Group entered the Latvian market with an initial order of 109 MW. Today, nearly 300 MW are already under construction.

In a defensive stock market environment, the Nordex share has so far gained slightly by 0.5 percent to €16.95 in today’s trading (1:45 PM, Stuttgart Stock Exchange).
