Hamburg (renewablepress) - In order to deliver higher energy yields in challenging low-temperature environments typical for North American wind sites, the Nordex Group is now offering the N175/6.X in Canada.

The N175/6.X utilizes proven components based on the Delta4000 series, the modular platform for which the Nordex Group has sold more than 40 GW to date. With its 175-meter rotor and a rated output of up to 7 MW, the N175/6.X achieves higher energy production in low to medium wind conditions typical for many Canadian wind sites.

The N175/6.X turbine is offered in a cold climate version that features the Nordex Advanced Anti-Icing System, enabling dependable performance even in temperatures as low as minus 30°C. Fifteen years ago, Nordex was a trailblazer in introducing anti-icing systems for rotor blades on its turbines, a technology that has since played a pivotal role in its achievements within cold climate markets like Canada. By preventing the build-up of ice on rotor blade surfaces, the anti-icing system significantly reduces ice-related downtime, ensuring consistent performance even in the harshest conditions.

Manav Sharma, CEO North America of the Nordex Group, comments: “The Nordex Group is currently strongly positioned to serve the Canadian market with our market leading and established Delta4000 product platform. With today’s introduction of the N175/6.X, Canadian customers would now be able to benefit from our experience in the market alongside our latest technology evolution on our platform, which will reduce the levelized cost of energy and will bring in additional features like our Advanced Anti Icing System and higher hub heights.”

Nordex North America has commissioned more than 9.3 GW to date and has currently more than 1.16 GW under construction in the North American region.
