Portfolio Expansion: Qualitas Energy Advances Wind Energy Expansion in Rhineland-Palatinate

Berlin, Germany - The investment and management platform Qualitas Energy is further expanding its portfolio in Germany with the acquisition of two wind energy development projects with a total capacity of 43.2 MW.

The plan is to repower a wind farm and develop a greenfield project. The two projects are located in Rhineland-Palatinate.

South of Mainz, Qualitas Energy has acquired an existing wind farm with 5 turbines and a total capacity of 5.8 MW. The company plans to deinstall the wind turbines here as part of its in-house project development and replace them with 3 new modern turbines, each with a capacity of 7.2 MW. Commissioning of the project with a total capacity of 21.6 MW is planned for 2029.

"With the repowering, we are quadrupling the production of environmentally friendly wind power. For Qualitas Energy, this is another future-oriented project, enabling us to actively drive forward the energy transition in close cooperation with local partners,” says Johannes Overbeck, Head of Investments at Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH.

The company is also developing a new wind farm south of Koblenz, where 3 turbines with a total output of 21.6 MW are also planned.

According to Qualitas Energy, the energy generated at both sites will cover the calculated electricity requirements of around 29,000 households and enable annual CO2 savings of around 160,000 tonnes.

In total, Qualitas Energy's portfolio in Germany comprises more than 100 wind energy projects under development with a total capacity of 2.7 GW and 495 MW in operation. The latter are currently being repowered in order to increase wind power generation.

Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH is part of the Qualitas Group and, with a team of more than 250 employees in Berlin, Hamburg, Wiesbaden, Trier, Cologne and Stuttgart, focusses on the acquisition, financing, project development, construction and operation of onshore wind turbines. Qualitas Energy currently manages more than 5 GW of renewable energy assets in operation and under development, including more than 3 GW of wind energy, 1 GWp of photovoltaics, 242 MW of solar thermal energy (CSP), 180 MW of biogas, 108 MW of battery storage and 60 MW of hydropower in Spain, Germany, the UK, Italy, Poland and Chile.
