70 Nordex Turbines of The 6 MW Class: Nordex Receives Major Order From OX2 in Finland

Hamburg, Germany - Nordex has received two orders from the Swedish renewable energy company OX2 for projects in Finland. Under the agreement, Nordex will supply 70 N175/6.X turbines to Finland.

These orders mark the first contracts from Scandinavia for the N175/6.X turbine model, Nordex announced. The turbines, part of the latest variant of the Delta4000 series, will have a total capacity of nearly 472 MW and will be used for two projects: Honkakangas in Central Ostrobothnia, featuring 16 Nordex turbines, and Rajamäenkyla in Southern Ostrobothnia, equipped with 54 turbines.

The turbines will be delivered in a cold climate version, which is standard for Nordic countries. Additionally, Nordex will equip the turbines at Honkakangas with the Nordex Advanced Anti-Icing System for rotor blades, ensuring high availability of the wind turbines even in moderate icing conditions. The delivery and installation of the turbines are scheduled for 2026 and 2027, with the wind farms set to begin operations in 2027 and 2028.

"We are very pleased to have been awarded the contracts to supply our latest and most powerful turbine type for these large projects - now for the first time also in the Nordics. This is a testament to our many years of experience in developing turbines for cold climates and now with 15 years of experience with our very competitive and reliable anti-icing system," said José Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group.

According to the Finnish Wind Energy Association Suomen uusiutuvat ry (Finnish Renewables Association), in 2024 Finland’s installed wind power capacity has risen to 8,358 MW (2023: approx. 7,000 MW).
