Large Battery Project in Tantow: Enertrag and Green Flexibility Begin Construction of 130 MWh Storage Facility in Brandenburg

Kempten, Dauerthal / Germany – The expansion of energy storage infrastructure for renewable energy continues to gain momentum: Renewable energy service provider Enertrag and battery storage specialist Green Flexibility have signed a cooperation agreement for a joint large-scale storage project in Tantow, Brandenburg.

The plan is to build a battery storage system with a power output of 60 megawatts and a storage capacity of 130 megawatt-hours. Commissioning is scheduled for early 2026.

The system is intended to absorb surplus wind and solar power and feed it back into the grid when needed – an important contribution to grid stability and the reduction of curtailments of renewable generation. The project will be implemented in close proximity to an existing Enertrag substation on an area of around 4,000 square meters.

Enertrag is one of the leading developers and operators of integrated power plants based on renewable energy in Europe. Green Flexibility, as an end-to-end provider of stationary battery storage systems, brings extensive experience in the planning, construction, and operation of storage solutions at grid-strategic locations.

“Battery storage is an essential component of a sustainable energy system. Together with green flexibility, we are launching a project in Tantow that will integrate renewable energies into the grid more reliably,” said Dr. Gunar Hering, CEO of Enertrag.

Christoph Ostermann, CEO of Green Flexibility, also emphasized the importance of the partnership: “With Enertrag, we have an experienced partner at our side with whom we can develop innovative solutions for the energy transition. Because only by working together can we successfully advance the energy transition.”

The construction and operation of the storage facility will be carried out by a joint project company. Building approval is still pending; the project is currently in its final planning phase.
