Third Deal for Nel ASA with H2 Energy: Nel ASA Secures Follow-Up Order for Swiss Hydrogen Network
Oslo (Norway) – Norwegian electrolyzer manufacturer Nel ASA is delivering another MC500 system for a hydrogen project in Switzerland. The technology is intended to power municipal waste collection vehicles and further strengthen the country’s green hydrogen ecosystem.
The plant will be powered by locally generated electricity and supports the decarbonization of municipal services. “This next project for VfA marks another major milestone for the Swiss Green Hydrogen Ecosystem, and we are looking forward to continuing to work closely with Nel to decarbonize the mobility and other industry sectors in Switzerland and beyond,” says Rolf Huber, founder and chairman of H2 Energy. The company has been working closely with Nel since 2016. The new order is the third MC system H2 Energy has sourced from Nel.
The electrolyzers delivered so far – including one MC400 and another MC500 system – have accumulated more than 42,000 operating hours, according to H2 Energy. They supply a network of 18 hydrogen refueling stations and power a fleet of fuel cell heavy-duty vehicles that have collectively covered over 14 million kilometers. “These two H2 plants form the backbone of the Swiss Green Hydrogen Ecosystem,” Huber adds.
Todd Cartwright, Chief Commercial Officer at Nel, emphasizes the strategic importance of the partnership: “We are very pleased to support H2 Energy and VfA Buchs in this project. H2 Energy has been an early mover in building out a commercial green hydrogen value chain. This installation highlights the close relationship we have with the client.”
