Nordex Expands Business In Ireland: SSE Relies on Nordex gor Another Irish Wind Farm - Shares at Previous Day’s Level
Hamburg (Germany) – The Nordex Group is further expanding its presence in Ireland. The wind power company has announced a new order for the delivery and installation of twelve N133/4.8 turbines for the Drumnahough wind farm in County Donegal. The shares did not benefit from the news yesterday.
The turbine installation is scheduled for 2027. The port of Killybegs will serve as the logistical hub, through which all components will be delivered, making project execution more efficient. The operators view the project as a contribution to further decarbonization of Ireland’s energy supply, which is expected to see a growing share of onshore wind power.
The order continues the existing collaboration between Nordex and SSE Renewables. In 2023, SSE ordered 29 Nordex turbines for the 101-MW Yellow River wind farm in Offaly. Just last week, both companies announced another order for two onshore projects in Spain with a combined capacity of 42 MW.
Jason Welch, Managing Director UK & Ireland at Nordex, described it as an important step: “We’re pleased to have been awarded the contract to manufacture and install turbines for the Drumnahough Wind Farm – another important milestone in Ireland’s renewable energy journey.”
To date, the Nordex Group has installed around 57 GW of wind energy in over 40 markets. In 2024, the company generated revenues of €7.3 billion and currently employs more than 10,400 people. Its portfolio mainly includes onshore turbines in the 4- to 7-MW+ class for sites with limited space and grid capacity.
Nordex shares closed yesterday at €26.78, just below the previous day’s level (closing price, 20 November 2025, Stuttgart Stock Exchange). This year, until now, Nordex shares have risen 136%, placing them among the top three stocks in the renewable energy index RENIXX World.
