Plug Power Stock Climbs: Plug Power Secures First NASA Contract for Liquid Hydrogen

Slingerlands (USA) – Plug Power has launched its first supply contract with NASA for the delivery of liquid hydrogen. The company, specializing in hydrogen and fuel cell solutions, will deliver up to 218,000 kilograms of liquid hydrogen to the Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio. The contract is valued at up to USD 2.8 million.

This is Plug Power’s first order for supplying liquid hydrogen to the U.S. space agency. The company sees it as a confirmation of its ability to meet NASA’s stringent requirements for performance, purity, and reliability in mission-critical applications.

“Being selected by NASA for this supply contract is tremendous validation of Plug’s ability to deliver low-carbon, high-purity hydrogen where reliability matters most,” said José Luis Crespo, President and Chief Revenue Officer of Plug.

According to Plug Power, the contract also opens new business opportunities in the growing space industry, where liquid hydrogen could play a central role in the future. Plug will deliver the hydrogen using its own cryogenic transport fleet, leveraging its nationwide U.S. production network. Multiple production sites ensure redundancy and supply security and allow consistent delivery performance for both NASA and industrial and energy customers.

With the NASA contract, Plug Power is expanding its hydrogen ecosystem beyond material handling and entering markets with high technical demands. The company’s strategy aims to build a hydrogen supply infrastructure that supports industries from aerospace to industrial applications to next-generation energy systems, promoting both supply security and the growth of low-carbon hydrogen.

With a gain of 6.9% to €1.86, Plug Power’s stock was the best-performing RENIXX title yesterday (closing price, 02.12.2025, Stuttgart Stock Exchange). Compared to the beginning of the year, the Plug Power stock is down -18.4%.
