Xpeng Advances Intelligent Mobility: Demonstrates AI-Powered Driver Assistance System to UN Delegates in Shanghai – Stock Slightly Up

Shanghai (China) – Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has showcased its AI-powered driver assistance system (ADAS) at the UN/WP.29 Forum for the Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (IWG ADS) in Shanghai.

As part of the event, live demonstrations were conducted on urban and highway routes to showcase how the Xpeng Navigation Guided Pilot (XNGP) operates under real-world conditions.

The XNGP system controls the vehicle in real time, detects traffic situations, and makes autonomous decisions during lane changes, braking, or acceleration maneuvers. Safety features such as driver state monitoring and human-machine interaction logic are integrated to account for driver interventions and ensure a controlled driving experience.

International delegates from Canada, the European Union, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States participated in the test drives. According to Xpeng, the demonstrations “provided immediate insight into how large-scale, data-driven AI systems handle the variability and unpredictability of real-world traffic environments.”

Xpeng also presented the first details of its new VLA-2.0 architecture (Vision-Language-Action). This platform is a technological advancement that interprets visual information—data from cameras and sensors on vehicles, pedestrians, road markings, and traffic signs—together with voice inputs or traffic signals, and translates it into concrete vehicle actions.

The goal is to shorten reaction times, reduce information loss, and handle complex traffic situations more efficiently. The VLA-2.0 architecture will serve as the foundation for planned Robotaxi test operations in China in 2026.

The IWG ADS session brings together regulators, industry representatives, and experts to harmonize regulations for automated driving systems worldwide. Xpeng has been involved in the Taskforce on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (TF ADAS) since 2023 and has participated regularly in IWG ADS sessions since 2025.

The Xpeng stock, listed in the regenerative stock index RENIXX World, gained 1.3 percent last week to €15.10. Currently, the stock is slightly up at €15.00 (10:33 AM, 17 February 2026, Stuttgart Stock Exchange).
