Ballard Shares Climb Double Digits: Ballard Secures Major Order for 500 Fuel Cell Modules from Bus Manufacturer New Flyer
Vancouver (Canada) – Canadian fuel cell manufacturer Ballard Power Systems has reached a commercial agreement with North American bus maker New Flyer, a subsidiary of NFI Group, for 500 FCmove®-HD+ fuel cell modules. The stock of the RENIXX-listed company is rising in double digits.
“We are proud that New Flyer continues to place their trust in Ballard as their long-term technology partner. Our fuel cell engines, backed by additional fleet services, deliver the range, rapid refueling, and reliable performance New Flyer's fleets require,” said Oben Uluc, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Ballard.
David White, Executive Vice President Supply Management at New Flyer, emphasized: "This agreement is the next step in our long-standing partnership with Ballard and a key component in advancing our leading fuel cell bus offerings.” Over the past ten years, buses powered by Ballard modules have successfully operated in various regions as 1:1 replacements for diesel buses.
According to Ballard, more than 2,200 fuel cell buses using Ballard technology are currently in service worldwide. Together, they have logged over 250 million kilometers with 98 percent fleet availability and no reported safety incidents. Additional services such as training, technical support, and stack maintenance further enhance operational safety.
The major order strengthens Ballard’s position as a provider for electrifying the transport sector, while New Flyer expands its role as a pioneer in zero-emission city buses.
The Ballard Power stock, listed in the renewable energy index RENIXX World, jumped strongly this morning and is currently trading up 15.6 percent at 1.961 euros (11:02 a.m., March 11, 2026, Stuttgart Stock Exchange).
