Nordex Succeeds in Citizen Energy Project: Nordex Delivers Turbines for 49 MW Heek-Strönfeld Wind Farm in NRW
Hamburg (Germany) - Nordex has been awarded the contract to supply seven N175/6.X wind turbines with a hub height of 179 meters for the Heek-Strönfeld citizen wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia. The project by Bürgerwind Heek-Strönfeld GmbH & Co. KG has a total capacity of 49 MW and includes a 25-year premium service to ensure long-term reliable operation of the turbines.
The project focuses on citizen energy and involves, in addition to landowners and local residents, the municipality of Heek, the church community, and the Ahaus-Heek-Legden energy cooperative with over 1,300 participants. According to Nordex, further interested parties can still participate until commissioning.
“The community project in Heek demonstrates what is possible when all stakeholders join forces: It reduces dependence on fossil energy imports, creates regional added value, and produces renewable electricity not only sustainably, but also cost-effectively and resiliently during crises,” said Christoph Wischemann, managing director of Bürgerwind Heek-Strönfeld GmbH & Co. KG.
Felipe Villalon Waldburg-Zeil, Director Sales Region Central at Nordex, added: “With the Heek-Strönfeld project, we are once again implementing a wind farm with our N175/6.X at a hub height of 179 meters. This confirms the high economic attractiveness of this turbine. The first order from Bürgerwind Heek-Strönfeld demonstrates the trust a new customer has in the performance and reliability of our Nordex turbines.”
Since its founding in 1985, the Nordex Group has installed over 64 GW of wind energy capacity in more than 40 markets. The publicly listed company, which is included in the RENIXX World renewable index, generated revenue of around €7.6 billion in 2025 and employs over 11,100 people worldwide. The Nordex share is currently trading down 0.8 percent at €43.54.
