Enphase Energy Stock Hits Yearly Low: Enphase Energy Posts Q1 2026 Revenue Decline and Net Loss – Margins Fall

Fremont (USA) - US energy technology specialist Enphase Energy has reported its results for the first quarter of 2026. The company, a leading provider of microinverter-based solar and battery systems, recorded a significant decline in key financial metrics and fell into GAAP net loss territory. The stock is coming under strong pressure.

Revenue amounted to USD 282.9 million (Q1 2025: USD 356.1 million; -20.6%). GAAP gross margin declined to 35.5% (Q1 2025: 47.2%; -11.7 percentage points). Non-GAAP gross margin came in at 43.9% (Q1 2025: 48.9%; -5.0 percentage points) and was impacted, among other factors, by tariffs, which had a negative effect of 4.3 percentage points. The sale of production tax credits (PTCs) additionally reduced GAAP gross margin by 6.7 percentage points.

On an operating basis, Enphase reported a GAAP operating loss of USD 29.6 million (Q1 2025: USD 31.9 million profit; n/a). On a non-GAAP basis, operating income was USD 47.3 million (Q1 2025: USD 94.6 million; -50.0%). GAAP net loss amounted to USD 7.4 million (Q1 2025: USD 29.7 million profit). Diluted earnings per share were USD -0.06 (Q1 2025: USD 0.22). Non-GAAP earnings per share came in at USD 0.47 (Q1 2025: USD 0.68).

The company attributed the weaker performance primarily to declining demand in the US market, including the expiration of the Residential Clean Energy Tax Credit (Section 25D) and seasonal effects. In contrast, the European business developed positively.

In the first quarter, Enphase shipped around 1.41 million microinverters and 103.1 MWh of battery storage systems. Free cash flow stood at USD 83.0 million, while cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities totaled USD 930.6 million at quarter-end.

For Q2 2026, Enphase expects revenue in the range of USD 280 to 310 million and a non-GAAP gross margin of 44% to 47%.

Unlike most RENIXX stocks, Enphase shares came under pressure in trading, briefly falling to a 52-week low of EUR 25.955. The stock later recovered somewhat. It is currently trading down 6.9% at EUR 27.34.
