PNE and Enercon Plan Energy Park with 98 MW of Wind Capacity in Brandenburg

Cuxhaven/Aurich – Wind farm developer PNE and Enercon are developing an energy park with around 98 MW of wind capacity and a battery storage system with 32 MW of output and 70 MWh of storage capacity in Beerfelde, in the Oder-Spree district of Brandenburg. The project also includes its own substation.

The energy park combines wind power generation, storage and grid infrastructure into an integrated energy system. The battery storage system is intended to absorb wind power and feed it back in at a later time. This means existing grid connection capacities can be used more efficiently and additional options for marketing the electricity generated can be opened up.

The wind farm is to comprise 14 Enercon E-175 EP5 E2 wind turbines. In addition to the turbines, the manufacturer will supply the battery storage system, implementing its integrated Wind+Storage concept. PNE is responsible for project development.

With the Beerfelde energy park, both companies are pursuing an approach in which wind turbines and battery storage are planned together from the project development stage. The combination allows power feed-in to be made more flexible in terms of timing and the use of existing grid infrastructure to be optimised.

The companies did not initially provide information on the investment volume or the planned commissioning date.
