Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Stocks Under Pressure – Inflation Data and Analyst Price Target Cuts Weigh
Hydrogen and fuel cell stocks recorded the steepest losses last week. Bloom Energy, Plug Power and Ballard Power each fell by double-digit percentages. Plug Power and Ballard Power had already been among the biggest RENIXX losers the week before.
US inflation data for September was a key burden. US consumer prices rose 3.7 percent year on year, more than expected. Following the release, yields on ten-year US Treasuries temporarily rose to about 5.3 percent. The higher yields at times heightened concerns over the financing costs of growth-oriented technology companies.
At Bloom Energy, concerns over the financing of large AI data centre projects added to the pressure, according to media reports. At Plug Power and Ballard Power, the share price losses coincided with price target cuts by analysts.
Nordex Increases Order Intake and EBITDA – EBITDA Margin Guidance Raised
Nordex increased its EBITDA by about 104 percent to EUR 278 million in the third quarter of 2026, based on preliminary, unaudited figures. Sales rose 28 percent to EUR 2.19 billion. The EBITDA margin improved from 8.0 percent to 12.7 percent. For the full year, Nordex raised its EBITDA margin guidance from the previous range of 8.0 to 11.0 percent to 11.5 to 12.5 percent. The sales forecast was left unchanged at EUR 8.2 to 9.0 billion. According to the company, higher margins in the service business, strong project execution and lower-than-expected project risks contributed to the improved earnings. At the start of the week, Nordex had already reported a 29.5 percent rise in third-quarter order intake to 2,810 MW. Over the week, the Nordex share price gained 9.4 percent to EUR 38.92.
