Solar Energy and Storage: Albioma Commissions System on Stadium Roof on the Island of Réunion

Paris La Défense, France - Albioma, an operator of biomass and solar power plants listed in the RENIXX World regenerative share index, has commissioned a PV system coupled with a storage facility on the island of Réunion in the French overseas territory.

The PV plant is located on the roofs of the "Stade de l'Est" stadium in the municipality of Saint-Denis. The PV plant with a capacity of 1.25 megawatt peak (MWp) is coupled with an LI-ion storage tank with a capacity of 1.33 MWh. In addition to the capacity guaranteed by the batteries, the PV plant will supply energy every day during the end-of-day peak (between 19.00 and 21.00). The PV system is equipped with an energy management system that informs the grid operator in real time about the delivered power.

In 2016, the project won the tender of the Energy Regulatory Commission for the construction and operation of photovoltaic solar power plants with energy storage in unconnected areas (ZNI). According to Albioma, the innovative character of the projects was taken into account in the awarding of the contract, particularly in the areas of production forecasting, storage, and management and control. The expected annual electricity production of the PV system is 1.7 million kWh, which corresponds to the annual consumption of 600 households on the island of Réunion, according to Albioma.

Albioma's share price is currently 28.80 euros (20.04.2020, 10:15 a.m., Stuttgart stock exchange). Since the beginning of 2020, Albioma's share price has thus increased by 11 percent.
