Nordex Lands Major Orders in Brazil
Hamburg, Germany - Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has received two large orders for a capacity of 399 megawatts (MW) and 314 MW from Brazil.
The customer for the 314 MW project is the renewable project developer and operator AES Brasil. The order includes the delivery and installation of 55 N163/5.X Delta4000 turbines for the 313.5 MW Cajuína wind farm. The project is located 100 kilometres west of the city of Natal in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The site has constant average wind speeds of approximately 9.2 m/s. Erection of the turbines, which also will be delivered in a project-specific operating mode of 5.7 MW, is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2022. The order also includes servicing of the turbines over the initial five-year period with multiple extension options up to 20 years.
The Nordex Group will manufacture the rotor blades and the 120-metre-high concrete towers for both projects locally and so is securing and creating jobs in the country. According to the wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group’s customers in Brazil are able to purchase N163/5.X wind turbines using the advantageous credit line known as FINAME, as well as other similar financing lines that use the BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) accreditation system as parameter for defining local content. End of last year the Nordex Group obtained this accreditation for the N163/5.X wind turbine model from the largest public development bank in Brazil.
